The work explores the origins of the mythical Perry Mason as a tormented private detective, a war veteran with psychological scars and a hazy morality. Matthew Rhys delivers an outstanding performance, imbuing the protagonist with a vulnerability and rawness that make him deeply human. He is a flawed Mason, driven by a thirst for justice for the underprivileged, which constantly clashes with the systemic corruption looming over the city.
